The Handi Pac is currently available in two colors: Black, and Red. Both bags have silver reflective detailing. There are plans to include more colour options in the future.
The Handi Pac comprised mainly of Cordura nylon. It is very easy to clean, but the material itself is excellent at resisting dirt and stains. However, if the bag gets dirty, a damp cloth with soap and a few rubs will typically do.
YES! The Handi Pac is versatile. It is recommended that with heavier loads on the vertical portion of the bag, that it be used in conjunction with the lap portion. There are straps that connect the two bags that provide support for when the vertical bag is being used and heavier weight is being stored in the bag. The vertical bag can also be hooked onto the handles at the back of your wheelchair, if required.
The Handi Pac is only available in the current size. There are plans to design and offer a Handi Pac more suitable to children in the near future as well.
The Handi Pac is comprised primarily of Cordura nylon. Cordura fabrics have water-repellent coating designed to keep you dry during wet weather. Although the fabric is water resistant, you'll still end up getting wet if you drop it in a swimming pool or are stuck in prolonged heavy rain. You can add another level of water resistance to Cordura fabrics by spraying them with products such as Teflon, or Scotch Guard.
Yes! The Handi Pac attaches to you, not the wheelchair or electric/motorized wheelchair. It is compatible with manual and electric/motorized wheelchairs. For scooters however, you must have enough clearance to accommodate the bags dimensions in front of you. See Specifications.
The bag has been stress tested to 15 pounds. The maximum load for the is 15 pounds. It is not suggested or advised to carry a heavier weight. Some can carry heavier weight easily while others cannot. Please use your discretion on what your weight tolerance is.
Just like wearing a traditional backpack on your back all day, it can get tiring and sore if you are carrying a decent amount of weight. This holds true for the Handi Pac as well. Depending on the weight you are carrying, it is suggested that you take breaks and remove the vertical bag every hour or two or as frequent as needed for maximum comfort. The frequency of breaks is variable for everyone. Please use your discretion.
The bag has been tested by individuals with varying abilities, including varying amounts of core strength, but every disease/injury is very different. You should use the Handi Pac according to your ability. If the vertical bag is too heavy for example, it can be hung on the back of the wheelchair. In some instances, such as grocery shopping, the use of grocery bags to store your items is recommended. Put the entire grocery bag in the Handi Pac, rather than each individual item separately. It will make it easier to reach items that are placed at the bottom of the vertical bag and limit leaning forward to retrieve items.
It is recommended that items that you need to be readily available be placed at the top of the bag if possible, or in the lap bag. It is recommended that you put on the vertical bag prior to filling it, that way you will not need huge amounts of core strength to lift the bag when full. Likewise, for unpacking the vertical bag, unpack it first before taking it off. It will be much easier to take the bag off when it's empty.
